Install TWRP through ADB and Fastboot - VCOM Drivers

Postby pfavayi » Thu Jul 13, 2017 5:43 pm

I have properly (I think so) installed VCOM USB drivers for the BlackView P2 on my PC and consequently I have used the SP Flash tool to flash Marshmallow and nougat .

Since I can use the SP flash tool , I beleive there is not issue with the drivers ..

But I cannot use adb and fastboot ....
They dont detect the phone .

I want to try intall twrp through fastboot , but since i cannot detect the phone (yet I can detect it with the SP Flash tool ) i cannot install TWRP .

If the drivers were NOT properly installed , could I use the SP Flashtool ? (No , I don't think so).

So were could my problem be ?

These are different drivers, get the Android SDK.

Twrp 3.0.3 by Jemmini cannot be flashed through fastboot on Blckview p2 running nougat 7.0

Twrp 3.0.3 by Jemmini cannot be flashed through fastboot on Blckview p2 running nougat 7.0

I spent a half a day experimenting with twrp 3.0.3 by jemmini

Normally we flash twrp through fastboot in the following manner
1)Go into the settings of the phone , activate usb debug and then Switch off the phone
2)Boot into recovery fastboot (hold power button and the volume up key - choose fastboot from the manu that appears
3) connect phone to computer through USB cable
4)Add you twrp recovery into the folder with adb and fastboot ( if you have installed adb and fasboot as system wide , you dont have to do this step)
5) open a terminal in this folder and type
fastboot devices
If some number combination shows , then the phone is detected by fastboot
6) type
fastboot oem unlock
This unlocks the bootloader so you can flash twrp
you have to press the vol up on the phone to confirm the unlock when prompted
7) type
fastboot flash recovery (name and location of your twrp file)
e.g fastboot flash recovery twrp.img (if the file is in the same directory as adb and fastboot)
8) you can relock the bootloader
fastboot oem lock
and press the vol up on the phone when prompted
or leave it unlocked (try both )
9)fastboot reboot
or press power button to switch off the phone (try both)

This will not work with this twrp 3.0.3 by jemmini

Its either the twrp is not flashed
or if flashed it will be removed as you boot your BVp2
or BVp2 will freeze as it boots
or it will continuasly boot into recovery
recovery cannot mount /data (try wiping or factory reset through twrp)

The only way so far to flash twrp 3.0.3 by jemmini is through the sp flashtool ( see my other post on the subject )

There are no other twrp recoveris I could find and test . If you have please provide them so Im can test them .
