Several issues

Fri Dec 08, 2017 12:21 pm

Hi,

i bought my p2 this summer. I upgraded to android 7.0. I almost bricked my phone along the way but I made it.

I feel that the phone signal reception has decreased like a lot. I am living in Berlin and using mobile data in the subway was not a problem using Android 6.

The phone crashes at random points when opening random applications. Only way out is to force a reboot. I get messages of apps that stopped working and will be restarted as well.

The thing that bothers me most however is that the android version comes with a not properly signed licence key. It works with a test key instead if a release key. Quite a couple of apps refuse to work on my phone because they suspect the phone to be rooted. I have seen a post of the admin here to request a proper licensed version sonewhen in October but nothing happened since then.

Have you made any progress on that issue?

Best regards

Hi Lanlock,

signal reception is something non constant. There is impact from other users (interference), load and size of cells and many more. But I would like to agree to one thing that I recognized when I upgraded to Nougat. On MM the signal strength shown in the bars was always mostly full signal. But I checked the signal strength (you'll fin this in the about phone section - Status of the SIM card) was not high at all. I think Nougat shows this more truthfully. My test showed -100dBm (indoor) which is definitely NOT full bars. In N it shows about half of the bars, which is certainly more correct.

The crashes you mention worry me, as my phone hasn't had a single crash yet after the upgrade. I personally saw many cases where the flash procedure wasn't completely done. What I mean is that after the ROM upgrade, you should never restore old apps, After flash and a first start, always clean dalvik and cache. In many cases it is also needed to use SN Writer afterwards to overwrite modem (to avoid inconsistencies) and related settings and add the correct MAC addresses again. You can find the notes at the bottom of this page https://androidmtk.com/flash-stock-rom-using-smart-phone-flash-tool.

Concerning the keys you mention, in the N version provided the images are signed. As 90%+ of all manufacturers also this ROM, the public Google AOSP key pair has been used to for signing. This applies also the apps that were installed in the ROM. Some app developers use way more sophisticated ways of checking for security flaws, rather than reading the key. What app are you referring to that causes this? Maybe the app expects a completely Google certified device.

Yes, they should correct the issue of the compatibility of applications like those of the bank because when they install them they always say that the phone is rooted but it is not, they should correct this error as soon as possible :)

First of all thank you for the reply. I will try to restore my phone and flash it again. After that i will use the SN writer and hope it will be better then.

Regarding the apps:
All theese apps claim that the phone is rooted even though its not. I have this problem with DKB-Tan2go and 3d Secure. So banking apps in general.

Hi Lanlock,

I keep my fingers crossed that the re-flash will help you.
Concerning the banking app I have a verdict. As you may have seen it is possible to set a switch in the engineering mode to enable root. A Superuser file is stored on the mobile that gets installed as soon as you set the switch.
Now many banking apps also simply search for files that start with Magisk or superuser or supersu, etc. And if the app detects such a file it will tell you you have a rooted phone, which you didn't root. Now, in order to remove the file, you would need root
Now I tried to decompile the boot.img and system.img to remove the file, but this does not guarantee it works, as I don't know the DBK Bank's app way of working.
I am only a moderator here and not a developer and I have no access to sources nor a big knowledge.

But you could try to replace the boot.img and system.img with these ones and try to flash (please keep a copy of the originals). This is not a Rom update.
Boot.img: https://mega.nz/#!py5kwYZA!zlNPbN-b0NgTl3fx8bILb91Q4CstHN7bEpdShX12nL0
system.img: https://mega.nz/#!liow3ahI!x6n3WLsMW97aPrtl9Eq8QQSm0sm7TyfH6I80O0liryY

But as said, I cannot promise it works.
