No Sound from Earpiece- Blackview p2

Mon Nov 13, 2017 6:45 am

I Bought a brand new Blackview p2. From day one there is no sound from earpiece, as I am not able to hear call while incoming & outgoing voice call.

I have checked
1.all volume settings,
2. Jackin jack out earphone.
3. Restarted the phone
4. Factory reset.

Plz share if any alternate option is available. Also share any link if any how to repair the same.

Hello tarun, sorry to hear you have problems with your earphones. Please allow me some questions so we can find out the reason (I guess you are using Android 7):
    - Did you try another headset to cross-check?
    - If you plug the earphone, do you see a small headset icon in the statusbar or is nothing appearing?
    Image
    - Don't laugh, but I also heard of phones that contain some fabrics/dust when carried in the pockets that prevents the connections to close. As you mentioned the phone is new it is quite unlikely.
    - Is there sound via speaker/bluetooth?
    - Did the earphone ever work before or did you have this condition since the beginning?

Hi

I have no issue with earphone mode..

The mobile earpiece speaker(reciever) which is inbuilt from where you hear caller voice that is not working.

I can attend calls in speaker mode or through earphone.

Any engineering mode voice setting i can check ?? as I am in India & I bought the same from china online site.

& its not worth to send it again back to china for repair as freight charges will be more than the actual cost of mobile.

Plz suggest what to do? as I am facing problem from day 1.

Hy, I have the same problem, actually there is no sound on ear-speaker when making or receiving a call.
The phone is with original Android 6.0.
Is there a solution?

Hi ptech_ro and tarun,

I am sorry for the misunderstanding, I was wrongly referring to the headset.

Well, it could be of course a HW defect of the cable connecting to the earpiece, which would require you to return to the dealer, which is certainly not easy in tarun's case.
- Maybe you can check the following in first place. On other brands I have heard that the noise reduction can cause this issue, which were Mediatek devices as well. For this go to your app drawer and look for Phone. After starting it, press the three dots and choose settings. Then chose calling accounts and remove the checkmark for Noise reduction.
- In some rare cases also some apps can cause such problems, like call recorders or other that require access to the earpiece. A exhaustive method could be to freeze those apps temporarily in you apps section and see if it makes any differences.
- Please also perform a factory reset after saving your data and clean the caches. It can be that some left over app is still active in the dalvik/art. Worth a try at least. You could follow this: http://bbs.blackview.hk/viewtopic.php?f=171&t=333179#p590710 for the cleaning of caches.
The cleaning should also be done additionally then performing a factory reset.
- When on Marshmallow (Nougat isn't supported anymore by Mediatek) Engineering mode you can have a look at the engineering mode by installing an app called MTK Engineering Mode from Playstore and post the parameters in the hardware section for Speech enhancement and Volume/Voice for NB and WB so we can see if there are any suspicious values.
- As a last try - in case this is somehow related to 4G voice, you could also disable IMS support in Settings/More/Cellular networks and inside there disable Enhanced 4G LTE Mode.

If all of the above do not work or lead to success, then my guess would be really a HW defect.

Hi

I have done factory reset many times, still issue is not resolved. As you mentioned I didnt find noise reduction feature in my P2. Please share exact path.

Also my mobile is having android 7. But as original device come with Android 6. Does this may affect earpiece speaker? If yes where I will get Old software update?

Also I tried to disable Enhanced 4G Lte mode but that also doesnt work in my case. Also I tried 2G/3G mode still no sound from earpiece.

I tried changing settings for Engineering mode for UL Gain to 240 for reciver, speaker, headset, headphone, HAC & headset(5-pole) but still no resolution.

Here is the settings for Engineering mode. Also plz revert if all settings required. As i have shared for reciver, speaker, headset, headphone, HAC & headset(5-pole)

Hi tarun,

there is one more test you could try to see if it is working.
- switch off your mobile
- press the power on button and quickly press and hold the volume down key and release the power key until you see a line called factory mode.
- wait a little until a menu appears and if you see it move with volume down to Test Report (note that volume up returns you to the previous menu, not for moving up, power is to select an entry)
- in the test report menu move down to receiver and press power to execute
- now listen to the receiver and if you can hear the test tone, there is no HW fault. Of course, if you can't here the sound it means most probably a HW failure (cable/speaker).

What I know about the engineering values is that a higher value does not mean a louder sound, these are quite specific things. I compared your list with my settings and here are some minor differences.

Hi

Thanks for support. But there is no tone after trying the procedure in factory mode for receiver.

Its confirm that earpiece receiver is faulty. Can I send my phone directly to Blackview service center as its under warranty? Or do i have to go through the seller i.e Gearbest as its under warranty.

Any link or video can you share me how to open back panel of Blackview P2, so I can check with any local service center.

Also if possible share the service center address in Hongkong/Singapore/Malaysia if any. That will be really helpful for me.

Hi Tarun,
sorry to hear that the receiver is faulty, but this test indicates this indeed.

We have a list of global contact partners that you can address: http://www.blackview.hk/global-agents/.
Actually you would best get in contact with Gearbest for repair, sending to HK is quite difficult and depending on where you reside also maybe quite costly.

Opening the cover is not easy and if you plan to do so, please be very careful not to break the cable of the fingerprint sensor. I do unfortunately not have any video on opening the case. But you may find this experience from another user helpful http://bbs.blackview.hk/viewtopic.php?f=171&t=129433#p432161
